Frisco may feel like one of North Texas’ newest cities, but its story goes back more than 120 years. Frisco Commons Park is a great example of how the community has grown over the years, expanding and changing right alongside the city while keeping a few fun reminders of Frisco’s past along the way.

Today, this sprawling park is home to playgrounds, a splash pad, picnic areas and plenty of space to explore. Here’s what families can find at Frisco Commons Park.

👪 A Long Walk Together

If your family enjoys a nice stroll or bike ride, a large paved path surrounds the entire park, connecting many of its different areas and giving families plenty to explore along the way.

A Veteran’s Memorial sits at the front of the park, offering a place to remember those who served. Throughout the year, this area is decorated with flags and well-maintained landscaping, creating a peaceful space to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Further along the path, you’ll find the Community Garden, with raised beds available for rent to local families and businesses for fun or educational purposes. The garden is maintained by both gardeners and volunteers, making it a unique place for families to learn about growing food and caring for a shared space.

At the end of the path is a large amphitheater overlooking a pond and fountain. Bring a snack, take in the view or let the kids run around the open space nearby.

🏃‍♀️ Pick Your Playground Adventure

One of the biggest draws at Frisco Commons is the expansive playground area, which is actually made up of two distinct play spaces: Hope Park and Friendship Park. The two are connected by a sidewalk called Picnic Alley, making it easy for families to explore both sides during one visit.

Hope Park, on one side of Picnic Alley, has a paved surface and is designed with accessibility and imaginative play in mind. There’s a dedicated toddler area, along with plenty of opportunities for kids of different abilities to play, explore, and use their imaginations. The toddler area even has a little Western-inspired village, complete with old-fashioned buildings, adding another layer of imaginative play to the space.

Cross Picnic Alley and you'll find Friendship Park, another fenced-in play space with a more traditional playground feel. This side is larger and features plenty of slides, swings and other classic playground equipment. Woodchips cover the ground, giving this area a different feel from the paved surface of Hope Park. Look a little closer, and you might even spot a nod to Frisco’s history, the raccoon mascot of Frisco High School, the city’s first high school.

With two completely different playground experiences side by side, families don't really have to choose. Let the little ones explore both!

At the end of Picnic Alley, and the heart of the park, are several covered picnic tables that make a convenient home base for families. From here, parents have a good view of the activity happening in both Hope Park and Friendship Park, although the playgrounds aren’t completely visible from the tables. It’s a great spot to spread out a picnic, take a snack break or regroup before heading back out to play.

💦 Cool Off at the Splash Pad

When the Texas heat kicks in, Frisco Commons has a splash pad where kids can cool off and play. Covered picnic tables near the entrance offer a shaded spot with a clear view of the splash pad, while benches around the perimeter provide additional seating.

Because Frisco Commons is so spread out, the bathrooms near the splash pad are also a convenient option to know about when spending time in this area of the park.

🌳 More Than Just a Park

Frisco Commons is a good reminder that there’s more history tucked into Frisco than you might expect. The park has grown and changed along with the city, adding new spaces and experiences for the families who call Frisco home while still holding onto a few pieces of its past.

From its memorial and community garden to its imaginative playgrounds and splash pad, Frisco Commons offers plenty of ways for families to spend time together. It’s a local park that reflects Frisco itself, a place where the city’s history and its ever-growing community come together.
